New York City, 5. Dezember 2011 – Deutsche Firmen in den USA zeigen sich “entschieden optimistisch”, trotz wirtschaftlicher und politischer Unsicherheiten auf beiden Seiten des Atlantiks. Wie eine Konjunkturumfrage der Deutsch-Amerikanischen Handelskammern (AHK USA) ergab, konnten 72% der befragten Unternehmen im Jahr 2011 ihre Umsätze erneut steigern.

86% der befragten Unternehmen erwarten 2012 „moderates bis starkes Wachstum“ für das eigene Unternehmen. 67% planen Neueinstellungen von Mitarbeitern.

Expansionsstrategien wie die Erschließung neuer Kundensegmente und Produktinnovationen stehen den Umfrageergebnissen zufolge weiterhin im Vordergrund.

Facharbeitermangel für 60% eine Herausforderung

Die Mehrheit der befragten U.S.-Tochtergesellschaften gab zudem an, dass Konjunktursorgen wie die andauernde Haushaltskrise in den USA und die Schuldenkrise im Euro-Raum bisher keinen Einfluss auf ihre Geschäftsentscheidungen in 2011 oder Pläne für 2012 hatten. Steigende Materialkosten und Facharbeiterengpässe auf dem amerikanischen Arbeitsmarkt stellen hingegen für die meisten Unternehmen eine Herausforderung dar.

Die jährliche Konjunkturumfrage “German American Business Outlook” der Deutsch-Amerikanischen Handelskammern (AHK USA) wird in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Delegierten der Deutschen Wirtschaft in Washington, DC (RGIT) und Roland Berger Strategy Consultants durchgeführt.

Spezialisierte Fachkräfte “sehr wichtig” für Geschäftserfolg in den USA

An der Umfrage beteiligten sich insgesamt 190 deutsche Unternehmen in den USA, 80% der Antworten kamen laut Handelskammer aus dem “klassischen Mittelstand” mit bis zu 250 Beschäftigten. Wie die Umfrage ergab, sieht sich nur ein Drittel der teilnehmenden U.S.-Tochtergesellschaften durch die Haushaltskrisen im Euro-Raum und in den USA „moderat“ beeinträchtigt

Zur aktuellen Diskussion zum Thema Fachkräftemangel fanden 62%, dass spezialisierte Fachkräfte „sehr wichtig“ seien für ihren Geschäftserfolg. Derweil gaben 59% an, derzeit auf Schwierigkeiten zu stoßen, solche Fachkräfte auf dem U.S.-Arbeitsmarkt zu finden. Dies gelte besonders für Stellen, die einen technischen oder Ingenieurshintergrund erfordern.

Firmen, die von solchen Engpässen berichten, haben daher mehrheitlich eigene Lösungen entwickelt: 47% bilden Neuzugänge intern aus, während 8% Partnerschaften mit lokalen „Community Colleges“ unterhalten. Weitere 4% planen den Umfrageergebnissen zufolge, eines dieser Modelle einzuführen.
